Meet A Designer with Yumiko Alexander

We’re excited to have national designer Yumiko Alexander join us 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 26th on Zoom. Yumiko will discuss incorporating non-shaping garments into our wardrobes, followed by a question and answer period.

Yumiko, born and raised in Japan, came to the US in her 20s with her husband and settled in Chandler, Arizona where in 2006 she started her design and yarn company – DanDoh. Her love of knitting and crochet combined with her desire to create simple yet elegant signature go-to pieces, she says her designs honor the many facets of her life, including her Japanese heritage. Yumiko focuses on creating simple shapes, rich textures and unique stitch patterns that flatter all body types. Many of her patterns are great for life in warm climates like South Carolina. While designing for others, she also says, “I design things I would like to have in my closet.” Her designs cover a nice range of knitwear including pullovers, cardigans, shawls, bags and neckwear. Dandoh also sells yarn – cotton, silk/cotton, and linen – that provide the perfect compliment and drape for Yumiko’s designs. Check out her stunning patterns on her DanDoh by Yumiko Alexander Ravelry page, follow her on her Facebook page Yumiko Alexander (DanDoh), or visit her website www.dandoh.com.

The South Carolina Knitting Guild prides itself on being a leading provider of education to all knitters.  Be it at a regular membership meeting, or our renowned annual, three-day “KnitInn” knitting/education event.

Much of our education comes from talented knitters within the membership of the SCKG.  In addition, SCKG occasionally brings in professional instructors who travel the world spreading their knowledge!
