These are designed to hold a very preterm fetus after delivery. Because these babies are so tiny, usually between the 4th and 6th month of pregnancy, a supportive and protective wrap enables parents to hold their precious baby, take photos, and make memories. Below, you will find a link to a collection of items beautifully designed just for this. This comes from a program in the UK, so is not specific to our local hospitals, but some needs are universal.

Please complete any items as we are not part of the program that published this (some indicate a group will add ribbons, etc.) Avoid harsh yarns, or wispy ones. You’ll need a yarn strong enough

to offer some structure, as these babies are so very fragile. Use white as much as possible, or pastels, avoiding pink and blue as gender can be difficult to determine at an early stage of development. A yarn that feels soft will give comfort. Avoid the pattern using the eyelash yarn, which is probably too “wispy”.

These projects may appear too tiny when completed, but they are just the right size. Parents often feel numb with grief, and the care you put into making these will touch their hearts.

Click HERE for patterns-all but the eyelash yarns are appropriate

    2023 Festival of Trees

    Patterns

    Contact Charities Coordinator

Charities are at the heart of SCKG We support several charities in the Upstate of South Carolina.
